Update from College Secretary and Director, College Health Service

4 June 2021

Dear students and colleagues

Following ongoing consultation with the higher education sector, the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science is due to publish guidelines for the sector for the coming academic year in the next few weeks. This will enable us to make decisions, plan decisively for 2021/22, and to provide guidelines to our students and staff.

In the meantime, please remember that we all need to adhere to Level 5 public health guidelines while they are still in place. Schools and Units should maintain their existing COVID-19 return to work plans which remain in effect until new guidelines issue from the Government.

Only staff and students who need to come onto campus for essential purposes should do so. Please continue to work from home if possible.

Trinity Sport update

With the recent phased easing of public health restrictions, below is an update regarding Trinity Sports facilities and activities:

  • Trinity Sport Centre will reopen for individual training only for the Fitness Theatre on Tuesday 8 June.
  • Trinity Sport Centre swimming pool is undergoing final health and safety checks after a recent maintenance upgrade and will reopen for individual training on Monday 14 June. Swimming lessons and classes can also recommence at the Trinity Sport Centre Swimming Pool.
  • Outdoor sports training continues, and matches will be permitted to recommence at Santry Sports Grounds, Iveagh Sports Grounds and College Park (main campus).

Members are required to use the Trinity Sport online booking system to help control the number of members and sports staff within the sports facilities at any one time. Members must enter the Trinity Sport Centre via the Pearse Street (Science Gallery) entrance, adhere to the 2m social distancing markers, and follow directional arrows to enter the building.

Trinity Sport continues to provide online supports for the wider Trinity community including free online workouts via social media channels, access to over 30 live online fitness classes via Trinity Sport+ and 2k, 3k, 5k and 10k walking and running guides around the main campus and Trinity Halls.

From 5 July (subject to the public health situation at the time), indoor training, exercise and dance activities can recommence in pods of up to 6.
