Update from College Secretary & Director of College Health Service to staff and students
15 October 2021
Dear students and colleagues,
You will have seen in recent media reports that the number of COVID-19 cases has increased in the past 10 days (up to 2,000 cases on some days). This is a trend we have not seen since last March. In light of this, the Cabinet will meet next Tuesday to decide if the removal of all restrictions will proceed as planned for 22 October.
This goes to show how unpredictable the virus is and how things can change. The Trinity Living with COVID Oversight Group will meet next Wednesday to review any changes that the Government may announce and how they may impact on College. The outcomes of that meeting will of course be shared with you.
Stay safe
It is important that we each take personal responsibility as the onus seems to shifting from Government regulations to us as individuals. Please do not come onto campus if you have any COVID-19 symptoms and remember to continue to adhere to all protective measures such as wearing face coverings, hand washing, cough etiquette, social distancing etc.
It is important for students to know that you will not be penalised for time you miss because you need to restrict your movements, or if you are ill with COVID-19 and need to stay at home.
HSE pop up vaccination centre
Next Wednesday 20 October, the HSE pop up vaccination centre will return to campus from 8.30am – 6pm. This is a walk-in clinic and no appointment is necessary. We strongly encourage you to get vaccinated.
Don’t forget that you can participate in the UniCoV project which assists in the detection of increased levels of COVID-19 across higher education institutes. We also encourage you to use Government’s free and easy-to-use COVID Tracker App. This app is a convenient way of storing your EU Digital COVID Certificate too.
Stay safe. Stay well. Bígí slán agus sábháilte.
Kind regards,
John Coman, Secretary to the College
Seán Ó Comáin, Rúnaí an Choláiste
Dr David McGrath, Director, College Health Service
An Dr Daithi Mac Craith, Stiúrthóir, Seirbhís Sláinte an Choláiste
