Welcome back message from Vice-Provost/CAO to students after Reading Week
2 November 2021
Dear students,
Welcome back after Reading Week. We are now into the second half of semester 1 when we are in phase 2 of our reopening plans.
As you will be aware the main changes you will see on campus are the removal of social distancing, teaching spaces and the Library are operating at full capacity and the campus is open to the public.
It is imperative that we all exercise personal responsibility, continue to wear face masks indoors and do not come into College if COVID-19 symptomatic. This is even more important now with case numbers increasing. Rest assured, you will not be disadvantaged for time you miss if you need to restrict your movements, or if you are ill with COVID-19 and need to stay at home. Thank you for helping to protect the Trinity community in this regard.
I would like to remind people to be respectful when communicating with staff in relation to their frustrations as a result of COVID-19. We feel huge sympathy for students who are naturally disappointed that their education and the rest of their lives have been significantly disrupted by the pandemic. It has been hard on everyone, students and staff alike. Please be kind, courteous and patient. It is more important than ever that we treat one another with dignity and respect as detailed in College’s policy.
If you haven’t done so already, you are strongly encouraged to get vaccinated. Don’t forget that you can participate in the UniCoV project which assists in screening for increased levels of COVID-19 across higher education institutes. You are also encouraged to use the Government’s free and easy-to-use COVID Tracker App.
Please refer to our Return to Campus website FAQs for more information and if you have any queries please email returntocampus@tcd.ie
With best wishes for a successful and safe remainder of semester 1,
Kind regards,
Prof Orla Sheils
Vice-Provost/Chief Academic Officer
Professor of Molecular Diagnostics
