Code of Conduct

Trinity Development & Alumni (‘TDA’) recognises the value of providing a safe and welcoming environment and is committed to doing so at all our events. TDA events, whether in-person or virtual, on campus or elsewhere, aim to be inclusive for all participants. We do not tolerate discrimination, intolerance, harassment, aggression, or ill-will of any kind at any TDA event.

Participant Expectations

We expect all participants – TDA employees, attendees, presenters, partners, and guests to:

  • Remain positive, friendly, and welcoming to others,
  • Acknowledge that where participants collect contact information from other attendees at TDA events, they do so for professional networking reasons only. All subsequent communications and interactions, whether in person, by telephone, or online, should remain professional and be in keeping with this Code,
  • Recognise that TDA events encourage diversity of thought, organisation, and individuals in all interactions. As such, participants are to be respectful and inclusive; avoid disruptive speech or behaviour that interferes with another individual’s participation,
  • Comply with instructions from event and venue staff and follow all applicable laws,
  • Be alert and report any unacceptable behaviour to event staff immediately,
  • Where alcohol is served at events, attendees acknowledge that being under the influence of alcohol, drugs or otherwise intoxicated is not an excuse for lack of curtesy, rudeness, harassment or victimisation of staff, another attendee or guest. Attendees are expected to drink responsibly and are responsible for their own health and behaviour while attending the event.

Unacceptable Behaviour

Examples of unacceptable behaviour(s) are noted below, but are not limited to:

  • Intimidating, harassing, abusive, discriminatory, derogatory, or demeaning conduct, disruption of events in any way. Unruly, lewd, or vulgar, sexually explicit, offensive behaviour or language, profanity, obscene gestures, and racial, religious, or ethnic slurs. Inappropriate physical contact, unwelcome sexual advances, groping, and sexual assault. A recipient of such harassment does not need to have explicitly stated to the perpetrator that the behaviour was unwanted and that although harassment may involve repeated forms of unwanted behaviour, a one-off incident can be determined by TDA to amount to harassment and be actionable under this Code,
  • Wearing unsuitable clothing that could be considered offensivefor a professional environment,
  • Failure to obey any rules or regulations set by venues, virtual platforms, and TDA. Participants are expected to be mindful of members of the public at venues and avoid any destruction or vandalising of property or venues,

The intentions of the alleged harasser are not always determinative of whether harassment has taken place. The perception of the complainant and the extent to which that perception is in all the circumstances reasonable will also be relevant.

Consequences of Unacceptable Behaviour

Unacceptable behaviour will not be tolerated. TDA reserves the absolute right to impose any sanctions it sees fit, including but not limited to the imposition of a ban on future attendance at any or all TDA/University events (both live and virtual) access to the Alumni room or withdrawal of other alumni benefits.

Reporting Unacceptable Behaviour

If you or someone else is subject to unacceptable behaviour or have additional concerns, please contact any member of the TDA team on duty at the event. TDA will provide a framework of support for alumni, associates, supporters, friends, staff and other guests who feel they have been subject to harassment or have encountered a breach of this code during an event. All complaints will be investigated promptly. This policy may be revised at any time by TDA without notice.
