Student Testimonials

  • Shonottra Kumar
    International and Comparative Law (LLM)

My reason for pursuing an LLM (International and Comparative Law) at the Law School at Trinity was to get a better understanding of the global development sector. Having completed the course, I can guarantee that this was the most rewarding experience; not just in terms of academics, where I got to interact with and study under some remarkable professionals, but also in terms of an overall university experience where Trinity’s hundred-plus clubs and societies offer you the space to explore new things about yourself.

  • Tushti Singla
    Electronic and Computer Engineering

“Moving to Trinity College from India feels as if I were pulled out of my cocoon, only to be given wings to fly through the immense sky.”

It is one thing when you hear that Trinity College Dublin is amongst the world’s top 100 universities; it’s another when you actually experience it and realize how true that is! With state-of-the-art facilities and distinguished faculty, Trinity provides an unparalleled learning ground to kick-start your engineering career. I believe, the pleasantly challenging project work with befitting technology has prepared me to work on real-world applications in the industry.

India and Trinity

Trinity's engagement with India can be traced back to the 18th Century, when in 1762 the university founded a chair in oriental languages. One hundred years later the College appointed Mir Aulad Ali (1832-1898), a Muslim from Northern India more commonly known as 'The Mir', as Professor of Arabic and Hindustani, and later Persian. During the nineteenth century, Trinity, together with Oxford, Cambridge and Edinburgh, trained generations of young men for the Indian Civil Service. The library collections reflect these multi-faceted engagements with Asia and include rare late nineteenth-century/ early twentieth century gramophone recordings made by the Trinity scholar, George Grierson, who compiled a remarkable linguistic survey of India which described 364 languages and many more dialects.

Today, Trinity collaborates with a number of leading Indian institutions, including Thapar University, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Ashoka University, IIT Kharagpur and OP Jindal Global University. There has been successful engagement with High Schools and a range of eminent organisations such as IIT’s; Department of Science and Technology; Indian Council for Cultural Relations; Indian Council for Social Sciences Research; Indian Council for Historical Research and TATA Institute for Fundamental Research.

Today Indian students make up the 2nd largest cohort of non-EU students attending Trinity, after the US. Our Indian Society, founded in 2011, is one of the most vibrant and rapidly growing in the University, whose Holi celebrations on the historic Front Square have become a beloved occasion for the entire student body.
