Pre-Departure

After you have accepted your mobility nomination, you will need to complete your individual application to your host university. You should receive your application information from either Trinity Global or directly from the host university. A mandatory pre-departure session will be held before you leave.

Registration - Before you leave for your mobility you must register at Trinity for the year.

Keep in Touch! - Always monitor your Trinity email while you are away. If we are to contact you, we will do so by your Trinity email. Also don’t forget to check in with your family and friends at home too!

Visas - Remember, if you are travelling outside of Europe you will most likely require a visa. You should receive all relevant visa information from the host university and if you have any questions about your visa requirements please contact the incoming student support team at your host university. Visa processing times are outside of the control of Trinity so please ensure you apply as soon as possible.

Travel and Health Insurance

If you're going on a mobility you need to make sure you have adequate health and travel insurance. If you are travelling outside of Europe this is important as it may be part of your visa application process. If you are travelling within Europe you must have insurance for the Erasmus+ Grant. Check your host university's website to see if they have any information, recommendations or requirements.

Module Registration and Learning Agreement

In most cases you will have to pre-register for modules with your host university due to demand. Work with your mobility coordinator to select your modules and choose a few backups in case your top choices are unavailable. Confirm any academic pre-requisites and restrictions that may apply to your degree.

Before you leave, you will need to complete your Learning Agreement. The Learning Agreement lays out the modules you will take while you are on exchange. The agreement will be worked on in consultation with your mobility coordinator and signed off on by them.

Support Study Abroad

Your experience and understanding of going on exchange is hugely valuable to other students. Sign up to be a student blogger and write a testimonial about your experience! We are always looking for student ambassadors to speak about their time abroad, whether at an information session or via email to prospective students. If you would like to give some time to volunteering to our Returning Ambassador programme, we would much appreciate it. Get in touch with global.mobility@tcd.ie to find out more about getting involved with upcoming information sessions.
