The Manuscripts

In parallel with in-depth research on the collection will be a programme of digitisation of all of the manuscripts involved by the Library’s digital imaging department, Digital Collections. In advance of the imaging of the manuscripts a conservator from the Library’s Preservation & Conservation department carries out a detailed assessment of each to establish its suitability for photography. Those that require conservation treatment before imaging are identified and brought to the dedicated conservation laboratory.

Four manuscripts from the first phase have been thoroughly researched, and their catalogue entries are being updated accordingly. Conservation treatment has been carried out where necessary on the manuscripts, which were then imaged. See below for links to the online images:
